Those of us who live and work here on the Costa del Sol are very lucky to enjoy this unique subtropical micro climate. It is the best micro climate in continental Europe and there is hardly a place anywhere in the world that has a better climate than this small strip of Costa del Sol in Spain. Costa del Sol has also been called the California of Europe.
I have personally lived and worked in most places similar to the Costa del Sol, such as the Algarve in Portugal, California, Sidney and the Gold Cost in Australia, Bali in Indonesia and Singapore. None of these places have a better climate than the Costa del Sol and I know that I don’t need to travel to the other side of the world to find what we already have here on Costa del Sol.
A good example of that is that even the people who have lived for many years on the Cost don´t know that the majority of the wild and most beautiful trees and plants are originally from the tropics and were brought here hundreds of years ago from South America, the Philippines and Malaysian Peninsula by Spanish explorers.
We have nearly a million expats from well over 100 countries from every continent living on the Costa del Sol, or as it’s also called the Costa del Golf, being the second most important golf mecca in the world after Florida. And why have also so many “rich and famous” chosen to have a second home on Costa del Sol?
There is average of 330 sunny days on the Costa del Sol between Benalmadena - Estepona, which is more than in California. Even between December and February a normal day time temperature is between +17 – 20 on the Coast. This climate is superb and well suited for anyone who loves outdoor living and activities from dining and wining, to sailing and golf or anything else you may want to do.
No-one needs to wonder why so many retiree´s and others have moved here to enjoy the best what life has to offer such as walking or biking on the sunny and warm beaches and promenades or in the nearby mountains, barbequing their fresh fish in their garden and inviting their friends for a class of Spanish wine or beer, playing golf or tennis, visiting local markets. You can even ski in the nearby Sierra Nevada ski resort between 2100 - 3200 m over the sea level and at the same time enjoying fantastic panorama views over the white snow covered mountains and golden Mediterranean Sea all the way to Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
Who are those who are living here permanently, or part of the year? Well, they are from all walks of life, from Royal Kings just to your everyday person. There is a lot of wealth hidden in prime location around Marbella City and Puerto Banus like in the Sierra Blanca, the Golden Mile, as well as in La Zaleta and Sotogrande with modern palaces from 2000 to 5000 m2 living area.
Families with school age children can choose between 10 excellent international private schools some of these are the best schools in Spain. Of cause there are also many good Spanish public schools as well as an American, a German, a French, a Norwegian, a Swedish and a Finnish schools as well as a School of Russian Ballet.
The Costa del Sol also offers healthcare services which are widely envied across Europe and on par with any European country. Even public hospitals and clinics have modern facilities, low waiting times and exceptional service and expertise.
On the Costa del Sol you can enjoy the best climate and it is free, like sun, sea, exciting nature and majestic mountains. Excellent food and wine in a company of good friends and it is also cheaper here than in the most of the other places in Europe. The climate also allows you to have a more active life-style and encourages people to eat better and enjoy the famous Mediterranean diet, which is believed to lead to longer and healthier life.
You can rightfully ask where in the world you can find a better place than Costa del Sol what has also rich history what goes back more than 2000 years to Roman Empery, what Costa del Sol was an integrated part of. Costa del Sol is so much more than just the California of Europe, it is the way of life…
